1988 Jaguar XJS Hess & Eisenhardt

1988 Jaguar XJS Hess & Eisenhardt

From 1986, a full convertible XJS was available through some US-dealers, modified by Hess & Eisenhardt. The Hess & Eisenhardt coachbuilding firm was located in Ohio, USA, and built convertible modifications for the XJS under contract from Jaguar, before the official Jaguar-built XJS convertible became available in 1988.

The Hess & Eisenhardt convertible differed from the later Jaguar-built XJS convertible as its un-padded top folded down deeper into the body structure of the car resulting in a cleaner rear profile when the roof was lowered. Only 2.100 units were made!

This clean example still has it's orginal Nimbus White paint, with all the VIN stickers on each bodypart still available. Chrome is still in great condition. The soft top is replaced in 2016 and in great condition with no rips or tears. Small rust repairs were done by us on the floors, which we have documented.

The interior is all original and the leather has no rips or damages. The original radio has been replaced by a newer one. The AC works, which is important since it also cools the fuel lines. All gauges work as well.

Mechanically everything is in great order too. The car has just over 67.000 miles (107.200 km) and received a new radiator and coolant, alternator, oil pan gasket, oil change, oil filter, spark plugs, spark plug cables and valve cover gaskets. The entire suspension is been redone and new bushings are installed. Also the power steering has been rebuilt. Needless to say this car runs and drives as it should without any issues. Last year more than 15.000 euro was invested in this car!

Overall this is a very nice and rare XJS which will only go up in value!
