1949 Chevrolet 3100
The Advance-Design is a light and medium duty truck series by Chevrolet, their first major redesign after WWII. It was considerable bigger and stronger than the earlier AK series, with updated frames, engines and sleeker design.
This example was produced in 1949 and is received a nut and bolt, frame off restoration. Everything on this truck is new or rebuild, with lots of pictures and invoices to back up the entire restoration process.
The frame was stripped down to bare metal and repainted, the cab, front fenders, hood and side steps were also stripped to bare metal and repaired where necessary. The entire bed assembly is brand new sheet metal. The truck was repainted in its original iconic green color. A sun visor was added and the driver side cowl vent is a cool and rare feature to this truck. All chrome is brand new, same for the tires and hubcaps.
The interior is also completely new. The dashboard is also finished in green, and the gauges are rebuilt. A retrosound radio was added to keep the original look, but with all modern capabilities. The bench has been reupholstered and the springs were repaired. The entire wiring of the truck is brand new. A new carpet was added to increase comfort.
Of course all mechanical component are redone as well. The original 216ci engine is completely rebuilt as well as the transmission. An original style carb was installed and fitted with an original air cleaner. The brakes are completely new and still feature the unique Huck parking brake. The steering box was rebuilt, same as the rear axle. New shocks were added.
Overall this is one of the nicest restored 3100’s you can buy. We tried to keep the truck as original as possible, with the only upgrades from original being a bigger cooling system, upgraded ignition system, 12V electrical system and a retrosound radio.
